Killing Eve: Just Dunk Me (Season 4 Premiere ABC TV Sun 27 Feb 2022)

Just Dunk Me: After the emotional climax of Season Three, Eve (Sandra Oh), Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) are in very different places. Following Eve and Villanelle’s exchange on the bridge, Eve is on a revenge mission whilst Villanelle has found a brand new community in an attempt to prove she’s not a ‘monster’.

Having killed Paul (Steve Pemberton), Carolyn goes to extraordinary lengths to continue to chase down The Twelve and the person that ordered Kenny’s (Sean Delaney) hit. This season follows our extraordinary women, each driven by passion, revenge and obsession, building towards a messy, nuanced and totally glorious season finale.

Eve is on a revenge mission, set on throwing a dagger into the heart of The Twelve, even if she dies doing so. Having heard the name ‘Helene’ (Camile Cottin) before Paul was killed, she is focused on tracking her down. In order to do so, Eve is instructed by Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) that she needs to uncover one of Helene’s new assassins.

Eve’s investigation leads her to one of these recruits, Pam (Anjana Vasan). Eve is being careless and reckless, living rootless in her hotel and spurred on by friend, Yusuf (Robert Gilbert), who also aids her with her investigation. Villanelle left the bridge wanting it all to stop. She wants to change and to be good. She has seeded herself within a church community in order to try to change and must suppress the instinct that usually galvanises the Villanelle we are familiar with. Villanelle wants Eve to witness her change, but when she confronts Eve about this, she is rejected.

Just as Villanelle is tempted to revert to form, she gains a clear sign that the road to change may not be as difficult as she had feared. Carolyn, relegated to an embassy role by MI6 is focused on getting back in the game. She’s been made aware of a string of torturous murders, all of which have been carried out on members of The Twelve. With all service resources forbidden, and the consequences weighing heavily, she is forced to seek different allies if she wants to continue to chase The Twelve.
