BBC One Saturday Night Favourites Get Renewals; The Wheel, Blankety Blank, The Weakest Link
Three of the most popular family shows on Saturday night – Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, Blankety Blank, and The Weakest Link, are coming back to BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Each these three shows promises to be jam-packed with play-along fun for the whole family, as well as a slew of the nation’s favourite celebrities testing their mettle and providing plenty of laughs.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC says: “In Michael, Bradley and Romesh we have three funny titans of Saturday evening TV back on our screens with these fabulous formats from Hungry McBear, Thames and BBC Studios ensuring that both BBC One and BBC iPlayer remain as an undisputed entertainment destination for viewers all across the UK in 2023.”

Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel
The return of Michael McIntyre’s critically acclaimed game show The Wheel (10 x 60′) ensures that fans will once again be treated to nail-biting suspense, belly-aching humor, A-list guests, and, of course, Michael’s enormous spinning Wheel. With the help of a new group of A-list specialists, do the candidates have a chance at winning big?
Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel is a Hungry McBear Media Production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer and was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. The Executive Producers for Hungry McBear Media are Dan Baldwin and Tom Blakeson and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Clodagh O’Donoghue.
The Weakest Link
The Weakest Link, TV’s most popular big money, low-trust game show, produced by BBC Studios Entertainment (12 x 60′), will return with Romesh Ranganathan at the helm. A new round of A-listers will compete to win £50,000 for charity by answering general knowledge questions. Eventually, the competition will come down to a head-to-head showdown between the final two participants.
The Weakest Link is a BBC Studios Entertainment production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer and was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. The Executive Producers for BBC Studios are Pete Ogden and Gareth Edwards and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Neil McCallum.
Blankety Blank
Blankety Blank (10 x 35′), produced by Thames, a Fremantle label, will once again feature the exceptional Bradley Walsh as host. Walsh will lead a panel of celebrities and competitors through a series of rounds in which they compete for a variety of…unique rewards!
While there may be some new famous faces, viewers can rest assured that the show’s characteristic theme song, the familiar Blankety cheque book and pen, and plenty of family-friendly humor will all be back.
