Hulu’s Original Drama “Queenie” Will Premiere June 7

Onyx Collective has recently announced the highly anticipated premiere  date of “Queenie,” an original drama series based on the bestselling novel by Candice Carty-Williams. Audiences can look forward to enjoying all eight episodes streaming at once on Hulu starting June 7th.

The series, which was created by Candice Carty-Williams, is produced by Further South Productions in collaboration with Lionsgate TV. It will be available exclusively on Hulu in the United States, Channel 4 in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, and Disney+ in all other territories.

“Queenie” features a talented cast including Dionne Brown in the lead role as Queenie Jenkins, Samuel Adewunmi as Frank, and Bellah making her acting debut as Kyazike, showcasing her skills as a rising R&B singer.

The story revolves around Queenie Jenkins, a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in south London. She finds herself caught between two cultures and feeling like she doesn’t truly belong to either. After going through a difficult breakup with her long-term boyfriend, Queenie embarks on a journey to find solace but soon realizes that she must confront her past head-on before she can rebuild her life. The series is an adaptation of Candice Carty-Williams’ acclaimed novel.

Candice Carty-Williams not only created “Queenie,” but also serves as executive producer and showrunner for the series. Alongside her are further executive producers Steve November and Sarah Conroy from Further South Productions. Lisa Walters takes on the role of co-executive producer and series producer.

With its thought-provoking narrative delving into themes of identity and personal growth, “Queenie” is poised to engage viewers worldwide.
