Will Natalie Cassidy Join Joe Lycett at the BAFTAs as his Lady in Waiting
Natalie Cassidy, the British actress known for her role in “EastEnders,” has offered to join comedian Joe Lycett at the BAFTA Television Awards as his lady-in-waiting. This proposal comes after Lycett jokingly promised to attend the awards, where Late Night Lycett is nominated for two awards, dressed as Queen Elizabeth I if his Instagram account, @LateNightAunties, reached 100,000 followers—a target swiftly achieved with the support of celebrities like Rylan, Katherine Ryan, and Scott Mills.
Cassidy, a regular on Lycett’s Channel 4 show “Late Night Lycett,” has now set her sights on accompanying Lycett at the BAFTAs in her own 16th-century royal-inspired attire. But there’s a catch: the Aunties must reach 250,000 Instagram followers by the end of the show’s live episode on Friday, May 10.
Cassidy, who often appears on the show via FaceTime and caused a riot in Lycett’s local corner shop during the last series, is eager to be a part of this unique red carpet moment. “I’ll be attending to Joe’s every need, holding his train and looking after him as he becomes Queen for the night,” she said.
Lycett, known for his playful humor, embraced the idea, saying, “Ever since I was a child, I always dreamt of going to the BAFTAs dressed as Queen Elizabeth I with Natalie Cassidy as my lady-in-waiting. Please make my childhood dreams come true.”
The comedian’s Elizabeth I outfit is being designed by Yashana Malhotra and styled by Krishan Parmar, who aim to create a contemporary twist on the iconic look, combining thrill, energy, scale, and fantasy.
This week’s episode of “Late Night Lycett” promises an eclectic mix of guests, including Hollywood star Elizabeth Hurley, actress and activist Jameela Jamil, and naturalist Chris Packham.
With its mix of humour, satire, and special guests, Late Night Lycett continues to be a highlight of Channel 4’s Friday night lineup. Don’t miss this special episode, airing on 10 May at 10 pm, to find out if Lycett and Cassidy will be gracing the BAFTA red carpet in royal style!
