The Frighteners: Glad To Be Of Help (ITV 20 May 1973, with Joe Lynch)
In Glad To Be Of Help MP Tony Wardle is just about to finish his weekly meet the constituents and help them with their problems session when he stopped from leaving by former boxer Bob Blaw. Blaw has a pressing problem, complete with suitcase full of press cuttings, that he wants Wardle’s help with.
He want’s Wardle to get an investigation into his son’s death re-opened. Blaw has already killed one woman who refused to help and it looks like Wardle’s life may well be in danger.
Maurice Edelman, the writer of the episode, was a real life MP, it would be fair to say that he was most likely writing from personal experience. Blaw has clearly been tipped over the edge into madness but you are never quite sure if the story he is telling Wardle is true or not.
