Max Original Comedy “Bookie,” Premieres November 30

The Max Original comedy series “Bookie” is set to premiere on Max with two episodes on Thursday, November 30. Created by Emmy-nominated creator Chuck Lorre, known for his work on “The Big Bang Theory,” and written by Lorre and Nick Bakay, the show follows the story of Danny, a veteran Los Angeles bookie played by Sebastian Maniscalco. Danny’s business is threatened by the potential legalization of sports gambling in California, and he must navigate the challenges that come with an ever-changing world.
The show centers around Danny and his interactions with his best friend and former NFL player Ray, played by Omar J. Dorsey, his side-hustling sister Lorraine, played by Vanessa Ferlito, and a reluctantly reformed drug dealer named Hector, played by Jorge Garcia. Together, they must deal with Danny’s increasingly unstable clients and settle their debts while also making risky bets of their own.
“Bookie” is a darkly funny comedy that explores the journey of one man as he tries to adapt to the changing landscape of his industry. The show is filled with relatable mishaps and showcases Danny’s attempts to charm and con his way to the top.
