Starz Announces Start of Production for “Outlander: Blood of My Blood”

STARZ has announced that production has begun on the first season of “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” a prequel series to the popular time-traveling drama “Outlander.” The 10-episode season will be filmed in Scotland, just like its parent series. Four key roles in the series have been confirmed, with Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, and Jeremy Irvine leading the cast.

The prequel series will explore the lives and relationships of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (played by Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (played by Jamie Roy). Additionally, it will delve into the origin story of Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (played by Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (played by Jeremy Irvine). The show will focus on these two parallel love stories set in different time periods—the early 18th century Scottish Highlands for Jamie’s parents and WWI England for Claire’s parents.

Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts said, “We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples. The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie.”

“Outlander” is approaching its 10th anniversary this summer and will air the remaining eight episodes of its seventh season later this year. It has also been renewed for an eighth season consisting of 10 episodes, which will begin production soon in Scotland.

The prequel series is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis, along with Matthew B. Roberts. Diana Gabaldon, author of the “Outlander” book series, serves as a consulting producer. Sony Pictures Television produces the show.

The “Outlander” television series is based on Gabaldon’s bestselling books, which have sold millions of copies worldwide. The show has gained a dedicated global audience across genres such as history, science fiction, romance, and adventure.
