“60 Days In” Season 8 Premieres June 15 on A&E
The new season of “60 Days In” will premiere on A&E on June 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and it will follow regular people as they spend 60 days in the Pitt County Detention Center as a form of public service. Sherriff Paula S. Dance, the first African American female sheriff in the state, is at the helm of the initiative, which aims to identify issues within the jail and implement solutions. The new series “Booked: First Day In,” which follows at 10PM ET/PT, follows the arrestee through the booking process in the United States.
What is 60 In About
Seven courageous people in “60 Days In” go undercover at the Pitt County Detention Center in North Carolina on a mission to inspire reform. Sheriff Dance wants to make sure the new team and protocols they have in place are providing the proper groundwork to keep the jail safe for inmates and staff after a recent drug overdose and the retirement of much of her command staff. Once inside, the participants realize the facility’s conditions are intolerable, and Sheriff Dance is forced to take extreme measures to save the program.
“60 Days In” is back for its eighth season as cable’s most popular crime and justice show, both overall and among adults 18–49*. For local jails struggling with problems, “60 Days In” offers an unfiltered look at the inner workings of the criminal justice system. Recidivism rates have decreased, facilities have been upgraded, inmate programs have been implemented, and staffing levels have increased as a result of the efforts of the participating jails over the years.
Booked: First Day In
Just after that, the brand new documentary series “Booked: First Day In” follows arrested individuals through the American booking process, providing an extraordinary look at the most unusual, bizarre, and often tense bookings. About 25,000 people in the United States are arrested and booked into jail every day; each episode will follow the story of one of these inmates for an hour as they navigate the criminal justice system and explain the circumstances that led to their incarceration, with the inmate’s permission. Viewers will be taken on a terrifying journey as they follow suspects through the booking process for everything from minor infractions to major felonies.
“60 Days In” and “Booked: First Day In” will be available on demand and to stream on the A&E app and aetv.com
