Three-time Olympic gold medalist and one of the greatest athletes in the history of snowboarding and skateboarding, Shaun White, is profiled in this revealing docuseries, premiering on Max on July 6, that features exclusive access and never-before-seen personal archival footage.

It’s the tale of how he overcame a congenital heart defect as a child, how his talent blossomed, how his unconventional but remarkably supportive parents helped him make the leap to professional snowboarding, and, of course, how he won more Olympic gold medals than any other snowboarder in history.

What’s in store in the episodes

Episode 1: Becoming Shaun

Shaun reflects on his upbringing in San Diego, where he was surrounded by an exceptionally encouraging family, as he prepares to compete in his fifth Olympics. Hidden cameras reveal how the White family’s passion for snowboarding helped mold Shaun into an Olympic star.

Episode 2: He Made It Big

Shaun realizes that a decade of dominance hasn’t made him happy, so he searches for new reasons to compete. Present day Shaun, who is trying to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team for the fifth time, realizes that the 2022 Beijing Olympics will be his last and makes the decision to retire.

Episode 3: Does He Still Have It?

Shaun is motivated to compete again in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang after a disappointing showing at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but injuries and personal issues derail his preparations. In the meantime, this season Shaun has to work harder than ever to qualify for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

Episode 4: The G.O.A.T.

After suffering the worst injury of his career in 2018, Shaun defies the odds and cements his place as the greatest of all time. However, in 2022, he will compete in his final Olympics and must face the challenge of passing the torch to the next generation.
