On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Good Morning America welcomes actor Jeremy Renner, chef Dan Churchill, and ABC News correspondent Matt Gutman to the show. Lara Spencer and Sam Champion will also report from aboard the USS Bataan, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship in the United States Navy.
Renner will discuss his role as Mike McLusky in the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown. The show follows McLusky as he tries to end a drug war in Kingstown, Michigan, and navigates the Russian mob. Renner’s performance in the series comes after a January 2023 snowplow accident that left him with blunt chest trauma and 30 broken bones.
Dan Churchill, a chef, human performance expert, and author, will showcase his extensive research into the connection between food and physical performance. Churchill has appeared on several TV shows, including the Emmy Award-winning The Chew and Australia’s top-rating Masterchef. He also hosts the Discovery Channel docu-series Surfing the Menu, in which he travels across Australia with Chef Hayden Quinn, cooking their way around the country.
Lara Spencer and Sam Champion will report from the USS Bataan, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship in the United States Navy. The ship is named after the Battle of Bataan during World War II and enables the Navy and Marine Corps to seamlessly transition from sea to land battles. The USS Bataan has been deployed for various missions, including Operation Enduring Freedom, the Iraq War, and humanitarian relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina.
Matt Gutman will share a report on how to escape a sinking car. Gutman, ABC’s Chief National Correspondent, underwent crash survival training with the U.S. Coast Guard, which included simulations of a plane crash and a boat capsizing. He will provide valuable tips that could increase the chances of survival in such emergencies.
